Miracles Through Pranic Healing, by Choa Kok Sui

In reviewing this book, it was interesting to note the word “miracles” in the title, because it begs the question: is the author going to describe to the reader how to experience this phenomenon? And will he explain the meaning of “pranic energy” or “prana”?

Some of those questions are answered in the opening chapters, which dive into the nature of pranic healing and the energy body by providing basic esoteric concepts (upon which the content of this book is based).

Prana, as described by the author, is “that life energy that keeps the body alive and healthy.” We learn that it has other names throughout the world, such as ki, pneuma, or mana, as well as related methods that are hundreds of years old, such as acupuncture and tai chi. Prana, as Choa Kok Sui notes, is sourced from the sun, the air, and the ground.

He connects this information to the “energy body”, which is described as an invisible living body made up of subtle or etheric matter. That body, according to the author, surrounds and interpenetrates an individual’s physical body.

Choa Kok Sui also states that it is through the energy body that prana or “life energy” is absorbed and distributed throughout the whole physical body. During the process of “pranic healing”, the practitioner projects this prana or life energy to the patient (without touching them), which Choa Kok Sui highlights as resulting in some degree of healing.

Who should read this book?

Miracles Through Pranic Healing is an interesting read for anyone that is open to exploring concepts around subtle energy, the energy body, the chakras, and the concept of energy healing.

The book explores two basic concepts that appear to underlie the success of the suggested pranic healing techniques: the law of self-recovery, whereby the body is capable of healing itself; and the law of life energy, whereby healing can be accelerated by increasing the amount of life energy on the affected part(s) and on the whole body.

Importantly, Choa Kok Sui also notes that disease first appears in the energy body, and that it can be treated there before it manifests in the physical body. And to a certain extent, the mind can influence the energy body, and thus the physical body.

One of the final chapters of the book includes 50 client testimonials from 19 countries. These case studies cover many debilitating conditions, and some of the study results can appear “miraculous” — hence the title of the book.

The last chapter describes the Meditation on Twin Hearts, with the Twin Hearts being the heart and crown energy centres. This is an easy-to-follow meditation based on the universal prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, with the goal of blessing the Earth with loving kindness. It also aims to provide inner calm and relief from stress when practiced regularly.

It is worth noting that, after the original publication of this book, the Meditation on Twin Hearts was recorded by the author as the Planetary Meditation for Peace, which is available to the general public as a free audiotape on ppmaudiostream.org.

Overall, the book provides a great introduction to the topics shared by Choa Kok Sui, while also offering a recipe-style section on energy healing protocols, a number of client testimonials, and a meditation that seems easy enough to follow.
